Honeywell Humidifiers

HON_Your_HomeIn winter our furnaces keep up warm, but they can also dry out indoor air. This can harm both our home and our health. In homes, wood flooring and furniture needs a consistent humidity level to avoid warping. Our bodies need a humidity level of at least 35% to help prevent sore throats and colds, and avoid asthma and allergy attacks.

Since 1885, Honeywell has been one of North America’s most inventive and trusted names in home heating and air quality equipment. In fact, founder Albert Butz invented one of the earliest forms of thermostat. Today they are a Fortune 500 company that markets their products worldwide.

Ottawa Home Services have been helping local homeowners find the right humidification solutions since 1983. We find that Honeywell humidifiers are consistent customer favourites that perform reliably for years.

We take the time to get to know your situation, your needs and your home. Plus, our 100% satisfaction guarantee means you’ll get the solution you need.

Humidification Methods

There are 3 main ways that a whole-home humidifier can work:

  • Steam: water is heated to the boiling point and the resulting steam is distributed through your air ducts. Pros: by far the most effective way to increase your home’s humidity level, doesn’t waste water. Cons: more expensive; hard water can cause scale buildup.
  • Flow-through or bypass: a valve adjusts the amount of water that is allowed to drip onto a pad. The water evaporates as the air from your furnace passes it, and is carried to the rest of your home. If there is any excess water, it is carried away from the pad by a drain line.
  • Wheel/Reservoir/rotating drum: A wheel covered in pads is allowed to rotate through a pan of water. The water evaporates from the pads into the air carried into your home through your air ducts. Pros: the cheapest way to bring more moisture into your home. Cons: Not as effective as flow-through or steam, high maintenance (you need to keep cleaning the water pan to ensure you don’t get a mould problem.

We don’t offer any wheel/drum type humidifiers right now, as we feel the results are not satisfactory.
