Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost for you to come to my home and see what is wrong with my equipment?
Our service is provided using a flat-rate pricing system. When you need service, our heating and cooling technicians will come to your home to diagnose the problem with your HVAC system. We will then provide you with a repair estimate from our flat-rate price book—which protects you from price inflation during busier periods. This work is subject to a fixed diagnostic charge of $109 +HST —regardless of how long it takes to determine the problem or how long it takes to travel to your home.

How long does it take for you to respond to service calls?
We strive to deliver the best possible service to our customers throughout Ottawa. We know the importance of heat, hot water or central air to your family’s comfort, so we’ll always try to get to you the day you call—regardless of how busy we are.

How long does it take to complete an installation?
The typical furnace or air conditioner installation takes approximately four hours. Converting an oil furnace to a gas furnace takes eight to 12 hours.

How much does it cost for just a cleaning?
Cleaning is including in every Ottawa Home Services protection plan, which costs just $9.99 per month and can be charged directly on your Enbridge gas bill with no upfront cost. Otherwise, a one-time cleaning costs $105.47 +HST.

Do you sell parts?
For the most part, no. The only parts we sell are humidifier pads, furnace filters and some parts for vänEE heat recovery ventilators.

How much does it cost to install a gas line?
Installing a gas line to your home costs $146.00 per hour plus materials, approximately $12 per foot plus HST. Flex, fittings and elbows are additional.

If I sign up for a protection plan, what is the minimum commitment?
The longest we would ask you to commit to an Ottawa Home Services protection plan is one year—and that is only if we are collecting monthly on your Enbridge gas bill.

How do I get a quote for a new system?
To get a free quote on the installation of a new furnace or air conditioner, simply call our office at 613-829-9700 or fill out our online request a quote form. We will then send a heating and cooling consultant to your home at a time convenient for you, who will be able to answer all of your questions.

Do you use subcontractors for your installations?
No, we do not use subcontractors. A knowledgeable and professional Ottawa Home Services employee performs all HVAC service and installations.

Do you have liability insurance?
We are insured for any damage accidentally performed to your home that was a direct result of any of our services for a total up to $5 million coverage. Proof of insurance is strongly recommended and readily available to you upon request.
