What Do Our Technical Terms Mean?

This stands for British thermal units, a measure of the cooling power of your system. It tells you how much heat is being moved by the system per hour.
SEER
The higher the SEER number your system has, the more efficient it is. It stands for seasonal energy efficiency ratio.
Heat Pump
Many air conditioners can also work to heat your home – all you need to do is reverse the flow of the refrigerant so you’re moving cool air outside instead of inside. Some heat pumps can even work when it’s below freezing.
