Our Lennox Air Conditioner Models

There are a lot of options when it comes to choosing the right Lennox AC.

  1. Your comfort needs. Are you fed up with your existing air conditioner’s performance? Are you getting warmer and cooler areas all over your home? Do you find you’re constantly playing with the temperature to get the kind of refreshment you want?
  2. Your efficiency requirements. Many people are fed up with paying electricity bills that keep going up – and are slated to go up in the future. A more efficient air conditioner will mean you save on electricity long term.
  3. The size and insulation quality of your home. Square footage, ceiling height, sun exposure, number of floors – even the tree cover in your yard can make a difference to the amount of cooling power you need.
  4. Your budget. You can get a Lennox for every budget. We also provide financing and rent-to-own options.

That’s why it’s important to get an Ottawa Home Services cooling expert to help you find the right model.

You can check some specifics in the two tables below. We’ve divided up our air conditioners into the highest efficiency and medium efficiency for convenience.

These units are all designed to provide the best energy efficiency, but there’s still a lot of room to balance purchase cost and efficiency. If you’re looking for the most budget friendly models, check the medium efficiency list below.

What Do Our Technical Terms Mean?

SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio)

Your air conditioner’s SEER number tells you how efficient it is – higher numbers are more efficient.

The specific number is found by taking the AC’s cooling ability (in British thermal units or BTU) and dividing it by the power needed to make it work (in watts per hour). In Canada, the lowest SEER allowed right now is 13, and they can go up to the mid 20s for central air conditioners (ductless air conditioners can be a bit more efficient).

The SEER value provided is the potential it can reach – in order to get there you have to have the right indoor unit installed and properly sealed air ducts.

Cooling Capacity

Each Lennox model comes in a variety of sizes, measured in “tons”. It actually has nothing to do with the weight of the machine, but its ability to cool your home.

Back before modern air conditioning, some buildings and homes were cooled with large blocks of ice – measured in tons. These days we still convert cooling power to the equivalent amount of tons. For example, a one ton air conditioner will provide 12,000 BTUs of cooling every hour (or more accurately it will remove 12,000 BTUs of heat from your home).

The most important thing to remember is that more is not necessarily better. You need to match the specific house to the air conditioner power. If you get an AC that’s too big, it will wear itself out faster by constantly turning on and off.

Compressor Adaptability and Type

Why should you care about a detail like the compressor? It has a huge role to play in both the AC’s energy efficiency and the evenness of the temperature in your home.

Compressors come in two types: scrolling and reciprocating. We feel scrolling compressors are better for three reasons:

  1. They have fewer moving parts and are less likely to wear out.
  2. They’re quieter.
  3. They’re more energy efficient.

Compressors also come in different stages:

  1. Single stage – the least energy efficient.
  2. Two-stage – more efficient.
  3. Variable stage – maximum efficiency.

The more stages a compressor has, the more precisely it is able to adapt the cooling power to the needs of the moment. This means it never needs to use highest power. A single-stage compressor on only going full blast or not at all.

For that reason, we make sure our team knows that (unlike at some other places) their job is not to push to most expensive models we carry. You’ll love our easy to understand process that keeps your needs a priority at all times.

  1. Information gathering. We measure your home and calculate its cooling needs based on factors like square footage, ceiling height, how exposed to the sun it is, and more. We also find out what your priorities are in terms of cost, energy efficiency, comfort control, and communication ability (e.g. Wi-Fi compatibility).
  2. When you’ve chosen a model, we prepare a full price quote for you. It lists all costs including labour – you never pay more than what your quote states.
  3. We leave you alone to make up your mind – unless you have questions, of course. Your price stays fixed for 30 days, so you have time to think and be confident you’re making the right decision.
  4. When you give us the go-ahead, we give you complete details on our professional installation process so you know what to expect. We even send you pictures and arrival time for your installation team.
  5. We remove your old air conditioner and install your new one. We make sure everything is as neat and tidy as it was when we arrived. We also show you how to adjust your new air conditioner and answer any questions you have.
  6. A day or two after the installation, we phone to make sure there are no questions or issues.

We’ve had great customer feedback on our process, and have passed on a lot of kind thank yous to our technicians over the years.

If this sounds like the kind of installation process you’d like to experience, ask us for your free quote. There’s no obligation to buy if you change your mind.
